I am quite curious to understand the communication apprehension within the classroom. Specifically, to those within the communication student body. Why do students feel apprehensive within the classroom to engage? Why is there a mediocre response to classroom communication? Are communication standards changing? if so, for better or for worse?
To get to the bottom of this question, I want to conduct a series of questions and interviews with students and lecturers. To raise awareness, gain knowledge and understanding to this matter.
- Do you feel frightened communicating in the classroom?
- Do you feel safe expressing your response to class discussions?
- Did online learning and being away from the campus learning dynamic affect your approach to engaging?
- Is the art of communication a difficult practice?
- Are communication standards changing?
- Do you find communicating with highly academic ranked profiles to be confronting?
- Do you believe you are unable to express your actual belief and view on specific topics?
I conducted a poll on Twitter to ideate the question and see student responses using the #mycuriosity hashtag and the #bcm212 to gain some insight on the topic.
