Final Report Analysis – Reflection

I have finally finished my analysis on Communication Apprehension and what a grand semester it has been of research.

It has been three months since I started this project and class, and I feel that BCM212 has taught me so much about how to properly review sources when searching for information and the importance of research and integrity. I believe as a growing young academic this research task was immensely important to undertake and experience. The value of research is the epitome of understanding and evidential facts on any topic we may undertake.

Communication in a general sense is a very important and unconditional practice that is used in all settings of life. However, in the academic sense, communication is an important craft for aspiring professionals to utilise. Communication is a significant skill, the recognition of development of it should be considered significantly. Advancing communication skills will enhance several cognitive decisions and responses within a classroom, thus improving the engagement and improvement of communication apprehension.I believe this research topic is especially relevant for academic institutions and will help form an understanding on student learning, and the potential impact that new age media has had on the practice of communication skills, especially young and growing academics (student).

The methodology I have undertaken for this project was a qualitative method, essentially, free text questions. I had conducted a set of seven (7) questions regarding the research topic. I chose this method, because I wanted to allow respondents to give more information on the topic, elaborate on details, express thoughts, and offer opinions.

These were the questions I had conducted. This is an example of a qualitative method that I had used. I had sent these questions to several University students in the Communications cohort.

1.   Do you feel frightened communicating in the classroom?

2.   Do you feel safe expressing your response to class discussion?

3.   Did online learning and being away from the campus learning dynamic affect your approach to engaging?

4.   Is the art of communication a difficult practice?

5.   Are communication standards changing?

6.   Do you find communicating with highly academic ranked profiles to be confronting?

7.   Do you believe you are unable to express your actual belief and view on specific topics?

Overall this was a very interesting experience we all undertook as a cohort and now learning the fundamental foundations of research, this experience will pave its way into endeavours as future communication professionals.

Thank you BCM212
