BCM 313 has definitely been a very interesting subject. So far it has been the most reflective on my personal growth and development within professional settings. And the concept of narrative and storytelling Has been a important concept in doing this subject.
For this particular assignment we were required to contact someone and And conduct a narrative interview, specifically with someone whose work experience interests myself. To explore hell this person had developed their professional values how they have manage to change in there working lives and what was expected from them in their future work.
I decided to proceed with this project by interviewing my godmother ‘Susie’. Susie has been a very dear person to me in my life. I I wanted to approach Susie Because out of any professional figure who has been in my life, she has always reflected the same interests and values that I have always appreciated.
I genuinely found this interview process to be extremely valuable. I I personally enjoy talking to older professionals about their careers what they do and why they do what they do. But what was really intriguing about this interview is the history. This interview process was incredibly beneficial, because although I always ask about the present. It was Inspirational to talk about the beginnings, and the origins of someone’s career and start in life and how life can throw you a curve ball.
‘Suzie’ wanted to be a fashion designer in High School, she had an ambition to move to Paris and study fashion, however due to complications with her family, she wasn’t able to pursue that dream, instead she was to pursue another in Art and education.
From talking to Susie about her story. I felt as if I was able to See some similarities in her life to my own. This is a very comforting and sentimental experience from the interview process.
